Ahmad Khidir gains attention from university after viral video

GEORGE TOWN: Ahmad Khidir Ahmad Nazri has not only captured the attention of netizens, but he has also garnered interest from a prominent university in the country.

This comes after a viral video recently showed the SMJK Heng Ee student receiving five awards at his recent school graduation ceremony.

Ahmad Khidir said he learned about this after one of his teachers informed him that they had received a message from a university representative via TikTok.

He expressed his gratitude for the attention but emphasised that his focus was on preparing for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, starting with the Malay Language oral test on Dec 2.

"I was surprised when my History teacher told me that a representative from the university's student recruitment department wanted more details about me.

"However, the university has not contacted me or my family directly. I intend to continue my studies at a university in human resources, and if possible, I hope to go to Universiti Malaya or Universiti Utara Malaysia.

"But for now, I need to focus on my SPM first, as I aim to achieve the best results, having been preparing since Form Three," he said.

Ahmad Khidir also mentioned that aside from the university, some individuals had sent him messages asking about his academic journey.

"People are asking for tips on how I learned Mandarin and Accounting Principles, and even Form Three students wanting advice on how to choose a stream for Form Four.

"So, I share whatever I can because I want others to succeed as well," he said.

It was reported earlier that a video of the school's graduation ceremony had gone viral.

During the event, the 17-year-old took home the Student of the Year Award, Deputy Head of Prefect, first place in his class, first place in the Arts stream, as well as awards for highest marks in Bahasa Melayu and Islamic Studies.

This achievement made Ahmad Khidir one of only three Malay students at the school to receive awards for academic excellence.
