KUALA LUMPUR: Kim Jong-nam’s body is believed to have returned to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary yesterday, a day after it was removed.
A white van was seen entering the mortuary compound about 9.30pm.
Medical officers were seen unloading from the van a coffin wrapped tightly in plastic with a red “fragile” sticker on it.
It is learned that Jong-nam’s body was expected to be flown to Beijing before being taken to North Korea, but it was postponed due to unknown circumstances.
Two unmarked police cars, believed to be from Bukit Aman’s Special Branch, stopped outside the compound but left after the coffin was taken into the building.
Meanwhile, three North Korean
men — believed to be the three sought in Jong-nam’s murder investigation — were seen entering a white Alphard at the North Korean embassy yesterday morning.
However, it is not known where they had gone although speculation was rife that they had been expected to return to North Korea yesterday.
Foreign as well as local press had converged in great numbers outside the embassy yesterday after four plainclothes policemen visited the embassy in Jalan Batai, Bukit Damansara, on Sunday.
Jong-nam’s body had been at the morgue for more than 40 days after he was murdered on Feb 13.
Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, died after two women allegedly smeared VX nerve agent on his face at klia2. He died en route to Putrajaya Hospital.
