Nepotism exists in DAP, says Rahman Dahlan

KUALA LUMPUR: There is nepotism in DAP and it will continue to flourish in the party as it’s being monopolised by the Lim family, said Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.

He said it is a known fact that DAP Advisor Lim Kit Siang is in charge of the party, evident with the various positions Lim had held throughout his 51 years in politics.

“There is nepotism and it flourishes in DAP. There is a monopoly by Lim family and the fact that he’s responding to me tells that he does feel the heat and there’s truth in our statements.

“It doesn’t take a genius or rocket scientist to know that he’s been helming in various capacities in DAP leadership as secretary-general or as de facto leader (previously), everybody knows that he’s in charge of the party.

“Besides he has lost many times and failed to dislodge Barisan Nasional (BN) in the past 13 general elections,” the BN strategic communications director told reporters when contacted today.

He was responding to Lim’s accusation today where the latter said that Rahman was committing “strategic lies” by saying that Lim had masterminded electoral fraud in the DAP party elections in 2012.

Lim during a press conference today at the Parliament’s media centre had also “offered” Rahman a free tuition course on the meaning of “strategic”.

“He can say that he’s no longer the secretary-general but hey, your son (Lim Guan Eng) is and you still have a very strong influence over the party and no one can criticise him.

“Have you ever seen anyone criticising him in the party? No. So I don’t need lessons from him because the fact that he’s responding to me shows that what I said was factual,” Rahman retorted.

When asked to explain further on why he said DAP members are scared of Lim, Rahman mentioned examples where several members have left the party citing loss of confidence in DAP’s top leadership.

Rahman said, such incident shows that the DAP grassroots are feeling jittery and restless over Lim’s “strong arm tactic in the party”.

“They just quit because they couldn’t stand this trauma...the dictatorial leadership of Lim.

“I mean, has some shame and dignity-lah. Move on and give the leadership to someone else.”
