KUALA LUMPUR: Naza TTDI Sdn Bhd is spending RM20 million over 15 years for the adoption of the five-acre Metropolis Park at KL Metropolis under Greener Kuala Lumpur initiative.
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the initiative is a mutually beneficial way to significantly improve Kuala Lumpur's air quality.
"The Metropolis Park is Naza TTDI's proactive support for the Greener KL initiative.
"In doing so, we continue our journey towards a greener lifestyle for current and future generations, which is in line with the Greener KL initiative," he said at the ground-breaking ceremony of the park today.
Also present were Naza TTDI deputy executive chairman and group managing director SM Faliq SM Nasimuddin and Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Mohd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz.
Metropolis Park is located next to the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), the first component of the total 75.5-acre KL Metropolis and Malaysia's largest exhibition space.
Apart from MITEC, KL Metropolis is divided into eight precints - MET 1, MET 2, MET 3, MET 5, MET 6, MET 7, MET 8 and MET 9.
SM Faliq said Naza TTDI will be planting about 300 tress and 10 different species of flower in Metropolis Park.
"The Metropolis Park is Naza TTDI's proactive support for the Greener KL initiative.
"This urban park will be the green lung of KL Metropolis as it serves as a transition and connects MITEC with MET 3," he said.
He said the park will be completed and opened to the public by the first quarter of next year.
MET 3 has been slated to include a five-star hotel, grade A office towers, luxury residences, a two million sq ft lifestyle mall and a 100-storey Naza signature tower.
