'I lost all my children in an instant,' says father of two siblings killed in Ipoh accident [WATCH]

IPOH: Two siblings were killed in an accident after the motorcycle they were on was hit by a vehicle that beat the red light here today (Jan 8).

Nur Amira Balqis Armi, 22, and her brother, Muhammad Armirul, 15, died instantly in the 10am crash at the intersection of Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah and Jalan Pasir Puteh.

The teenager was on the way to school.

The siblings' father, Armi Mustafa, 59, said his children were close.

He said Nur Amira always sent her brother to school at SMJK Sam Tet as it was near her workplace.

"I got a call from a policeman about 10am. He told me to go to the scene of the accident, but didn't tell me what happened.

"I rushed there, praying that nothing serious happened.

"But when I arrived, I saw the unimaginable. My children were gone.

"I lost my son and daughter in an instant. But I must accept God's will and His tests," he said at the Forensic Unit of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here today.

Armi, a laboratory assistant at SMK Dr Megat Khas here, said he lost his wife eight months after she delivered Armirul and now he had lost all his children in the accident.

He said the siblings would be taken to Masjid Imaniah in Batu Gajah for funeral prayers before being laid to rest at the Kampung Changkat Belangkor Muslim Cemetery later today.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said initial investigations found that the 10.35am accident occurred after a Toyota Vellfire driven by a 38-year-old woman beat the red light at an intersection before ramming into the victims.

"The two victims died on the spot. The driver was unhurt."

He said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death due to reckless or dangerous driving.
