SIBU: A Malaysia Airlines aircraft with 67 passengers and crew onboard skidded upon landing during heavy downpour at the Sibu airport here Saturday tonight.
Flight MH2718 from Kuala Lumpur skidded off Runway 13 upon landing at 10.17pm.
It was believed that the runway was slippery due to the heavy downpour.
Malaysia Airlines on its official Facebook account confirmed the incident involving its Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
“All onboard safely disembarked via two slide rafts. No injuries have been reported so far.
“The safety of all passengers is of utmost priority to Malaysia Airlines,” said Malaysia Airlines in its statement.
The statement also said an immediate investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the incident.
A State Fire and Rescue Department spokesman confirmed the case stating that the cause of the incident was still being investigated.
