Ex-NRD officer charged with cheating and forgery

JOHOR BARU: A former officer from the Johor Baru National Registration Department (NRD) was charged at the magistrate's court today with five counts of cheating involving more than RM4,000 in connection with obtaining MyKad and forging official NRD forms.

Muhammad Khudzairi Fitri Hussein, 36, who was previously an assistant registration officer, claimed trial to committing the offences at NRD Johor Baru Office between 2012 and 2015.

He was charged with accepting RM1000 each from two brothers Muhammad Ismail Tumiran and Muhammad Saefful Tumiran to replace their MyKad and forged an NRD Late Application Letter to deceive them at the Investigation and Enforcement Unit of the Johor Baru NRD office on June 24, 2012.

Khudzairi was also charged with taking RM2000 from Musa Asbin to replace his MyKad and forged a NRD form known as the Document Retainment Declaration Letter at the same place on Feb 26, 2013.

The fourth and fifth charges were for cheating Misriah Khaliludin of RM300 and RM150 on two separate occasions to faciliate her MyKad application at the same place in March 2015.

Khudzairi, who was wearing a red shirt and black pants, was seen in tears after making his plea.

Magistrate Mohd Azlan Shah Mohd Allias said the bail amount for Khudzairi will be determined by a Sessions Court tomorrow.

Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission prosecuting officer Nursyarina Raizan prosecuted, while Khudzairi was represented by counsel Nurul Afiqah Hambali.
