Killed over kuih: Bangladeshi trader charged with murder

SHAH ALAM: A Bangladeshi trader was charged with the murder of his countryman at the magistrate's court, here this morning.

Abdul Rahim, 49, was accused of committing the offence about 12pm on Sept 21 at a unit in Taman Bunga Negara Flats, Jalan Selayang here.

He was accused under Section 302 of the Penal Code in front of Magistrate Siti Shakirah Mohtarudin of murdering Md Abdur Razzak.

Section 302 of the code provides a mandatory death penalty upon conviction.

Abdul Rahim, who was in handcuffs, nodded when asked if he understood the charge read against him.

Deputy public prosecutor Muaz Ahmad Khairuddin prosecuted, while the accused was not represented.

It was previously reported that a business rivalry led to one kuih seller killing a fellow trader at a flat in Shah Alam on Sept 21.
