Woman loses RM3,000 gold chain to men posing as TNB staff

BESUT: A 61-year-old woman lost her RM3,000 gold chain to two men posing as Tenaga National Bhd personnel at Kampung Gong Mak Som, Alor Lintah yesterday.

The victim, Halimah Abdullah, was alone at home when two men on an EX5 Honda approached her under the pretext of checking an erroneous electric bill in the 2.30pm incident.

One of the men had told her that they needed her latest electricity bill to verify the matter. They called out to the woman from the gates.

Acting district police chief Deputy Superintendent Kasmani Hassan said when the woman stepped out to hand over the bill, one of them grabbed her chain and ran. They escaped the scene on their motorcycle.

Kasmani said police are looking for the two men, believed to be locals in their 20s.

The case was being investigated under the Section 395 erroneous of the Penal Code for theft.
