Three arrested over discovery of dead woman under Klang bridge

KLANG: Police have arrested three people in connection with the discovery of a dead woman under an overhead bridge in Jalan Raja Nong, here yesterday.

The arrests were made within 24 hours to facilitate the murder probe.

The nude body of the 37-year-old woman, a single mother of two, was found under the bridge, opposite SK Kampung Jawa 2, Klang, on Monday morning.

Klang Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsul Amar Ramli said the first arrest was made at 1pm yesterday. Two others were nabbed at 7pm by the South Klang District Police Criminal Investigation Department.

“Two of the suspects, aged 54 and 42, had no previous criminal records, while the third suspect, aged 32, had previously been detained under Section 394 of the Penal Code (for causing hurt while committing a robbery) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (for administering drugs to himself),” he said.

Police also seized a car and three mobile phones from the suspects.

The discovery of the body was made by a member of the public who immediately called the 999 Emergency Response Services (MERS999) at 7.41am.

The woman was with her shorts and underwear down at her left ankle. There were bruises on her right eye and a bump on her forehead.

Police believe the woman had been murdered elsewhere and the body was dumped at the location.

Checks later showed that the woman was a Malaysian and had a previous arrest record for drug abuse.

She also has two daughters, who were living with her younger sister in Shah Alam. The younger sister had lodged a police report on March 10, as the victim had been missing since 2015.
