KUANTAN: A newlywed couple who ended up red-faced when the caterers they hired failed to live up to expectations during their wedding reception are taking their case up with the Consumer Claims Tribunal.
Mohd Nor Afzarizal Zulkipli and Amy Nur Alice Kamaruddin, lodged a complaint with the tribunal under the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK), here, today.
The couple who came from Kota SAS lodged a report of dissatisfaction over the services provided by the caterers at their wedding reception which was held at Widad University College’s hall, here, on March 24.
Nor Afzarizal, 35, said he and his 23-year old wife did so after getting advice from various parties to claim compensation.
He said they had tried to resolve the issue with the catering company but failed to find any solution despite a week of trying.
He said the tribunal had fixed April 30 to hear the case.
The self-employed said the tribunal would proceed even if the caterers or their representatives failed to attend the hearing.
It was reported that the couple were left embarrassed before their family members and guests when the catering company they hired failed to deliver what was promised.
The couple claimed they were taken in by the company’s reputation after seeing famous celebrities as its brand ambassadors.
The caterers allegedly failed to serve the popular sambal sotong dish which both parties had agreed on during the reception.
