KPKT appoints 28 new tribunal presidents to enhance efficiency in resolving cases

KUALA LUMPUR: The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) has appointed 28 new tribunal presidents to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the ministry in resolving cases.

Its minister Nga Kor Ming officiated the appointment letter ceremony for 28 new presidents of Tribunal for Homebuyers' Claims (TTPR) and the Strata Management Tribunal (TPS).

He said the appointment brings the current total of Housing and Strata Management Tribunal (TPPS) presidents to 43, consisting of 14 from TTPR and 29 from TPS.

Nga hopes with these appointments, the hearing process at TPPS can proceed more smoothly and efficiently, meeting the set targets.

"All appointed presidents must always uphold their personal integrity and commit fully to carrying out their duties fairly and transparently," he said.

Nga said the ministry has successfully resolved a total of 51,233 cases from 2018 to 2023 through TPPS including overdue cases.

"Between 2018 and 2023, a total of 48,839 TPPS cases were registered, with 51,233 cases successfully resolved, including overdue cases from previous years.

"The year 2023 saw the highest number of case resolutions, with 11,361 cases settled," he said.

He also said from January to May 2024, there were 791 TTPR cases registered and 943 cases successfully resolved.

Meanwhile, there were 4,180 TPS cases registered and 3,927 cases were successfully resolved where some of them were filed online.

"There were 2,941 of these cases filed online through the e-TPS system, compared to 1,239 cases that were registered at the counter.

"The filing of TPS cases can now be done online via the link https://etps.kpkt.gov.my/portal," said Nga.

He added that KPKT remains committed and gives full attention to strata management affairs and issue resolutions, in line with the ministry's desire to provide the best service and quality housing to the people.
