KUALA LUMPUR: Police today confirmed that urine tests conducted on Bandar Tun Razak Umno chief, Datuk Rizalman Mokhtar, have turned out negative for drugs.
City police chief, Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim, said investigators from the Dang Wangi police headquarters had sent Rizalman’s urine samples to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital pathology unit for testing.
“Seeing that this case was of public interest, police had asked for the hospital to speed up the process.
“Once the tests were completed, the hospital issued a statement confirming that the tests were negative,” he said in a statement today.
Mazlan said the police have also referred the case to the Attorney-General’s Office. No further action will be taken against Rizalman.
“We have yet to receive word from the hospital on the outcome of tests on urine samples of nine other people, which had initially tested positive.
“Police have conducted this investigation professionally, fairly and without any elements of ‘sabotage’ or ‘entrapment’. Everything was done in accordance with standard operating procedures and a letter of confirmation has already been sent to Rizalman,” he said.
