KOTA BARU: The 29-year-old popular modern dikir barat singer and five other Malaysians arrested by Thai authorities for possession of 6,000 Yaba pills on Friday tested positive for drugs, a Thai police spokesman said.
The spokesman also said that the Thai police are expected to obtain a remand order against the six people, including three women, aged between 25 and 32, at the Narathiwat Court tomorrow.
He added that all suspects are currently being held at the Sunga Golok police lock-up, located 50km away from the Narathiwat Court.
"The remand is to enable the police to carry out investigations into the case," the spokesman said.
If investigations find them guilty of the offence, the six will be jointly charged with possession of the 6,000 pills.
"Two of the three women arrested are also being investigated for entering Thailand without proper documents," he added.
It was reported yesterday that six Malaysians were arrested in south Thailand for possession of 6,000 pills in Sungai Golok town on Friday.
The six were detained at a hotel about 6am. They were believed to have crossed the border town for leisure over the Deepavali holidays.
