PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers raided several locations in Sabah yesterday, in connection to its probe on the Sabah Forestry Department.
About 40 MACC officers were involved in the raids, which ended with the seizure of documents to assist in the commission's investigation into an alleged graft case involving the department.
The raids started about 9.30am at various places in Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau and Tambunan.
Sources said the MACC had seized several documents from a residence of a Sabah Forestry Department senior officer located in Sandakan.
It is learnt the seized files included financial documents of a company which has secured a project from the department.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operation) Datuk Seri Azam Baki confirmed the case, saying several senior officers attached to the Sabah Forestry Department were under investigation.
The investigation is being carried out under Section 4 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 for money laundering offences.
