3 security guards charged with stealing RM200,000, 1 pleads guilty

ALOR STAR: A security guard charged with stealing RM200,000 in cash alongside two others has pleaded guilty to the offence at the Magistrate's Court.

The accused, Muhd Fairul Fizree Abdul Hamid, 38, made the plea before magistrate Siti Nurhidayah Mohd Noor.

His two colleagues, Mohamad Zul Hilmi Ahmad, 37, and Muhammad Fadzli Yaakub, 28, however, claimed trial.

According to the charge sheet, the trio are accused of stealing RM200,000 in cash guarded by their employer, Kawal Wiramas Sdn Bhd, at a traffic light in Taman Kristal on the morning of Nov 19.

They were charged under Section 381 of the Penal Code for theft of property in possession of an employer by an employee, which carries a maximum seven-year jail term and a fine.

Fairul will be sentenced tomorrow.

The court set bail at RM4,500 with one surety for each of the accused and set Dec 29 for case remention.

Prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor R. Jayasri.

Fairul was represented by National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer H.A. Chuah, while lawyer Ilyana Syafiqa Md Saad appeared for Zul Hilmi and Fadzli.
