Decision involving Ku Nan's corruption case on Nov 17

KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has fixed Nov 17 for decision in the corruption trial involving former Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

Judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan fixed the date after hearing submissions from both sides today.

Tengku Adnan, who is popularly known as Ku Nan, was charged in his capacity as a public servant of receiving for himself RM2 million from property developer Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd director Tan Sri Chai Kin Kong via a Hong Leong Islamic Bank cheque which was later deposited into the CIMB bank account of Tadmansori Holdings Sdn Bhd.

The 69-year old accused is the main shareholder of Tadmansori Holdings while Aset Kayamas had dealings with Tengku Adnan in his capacity as a minister then.

The Putrajaya member of parliament is accused of committing the offence at the Pusat Bandar Damansara branch of the CIMB Bank here on June 14, 2016.

He is charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of two years, a fine or both.

Tengku Adnan was ordered to enter his defence on Oct 14 last year after the court ruled that the prosecution had succeeded in establishing a prima facie case against him.

He subsequently chose to testify under oath from the witness stand when the defence proceedings commenced on January 17 and Tengku Adnan completed giving his evidence on March 5.

The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Julia Ibrahim while Tengku Adnan's defence team was led by Datuk Tan Hock Chuan.
