Suspected upskirt snapper at Subang mall detained

SUBANG JAYA: A man has been detained on suspicion of taking an upskirt video of a woman using a smartphone at a shopping mall here last Dec 31.

Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Abd Khalid Othman said the incident was believed to have taken place at 5pm on that day when a woman spotted the suspect behaving suspiciously.

"The suspect was carrying a paper bag which had a hole.

"The victim suspected the man had been taking an upskirt video of her. She then followed the suspect and grabbed the paper bag from him," he said in a statement today.

Abd Khalid said the victim found a smartphone in the bag which was in record mode.

He added that the victim sought for help from auxilliary policemen to bring the suspect to the Bandar Sunway police station.

The 38-year-old suspect worked as a salesman and has since been remanded until Jan 6 to facilitate investigation under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act.
