Woman stabbed at home, children unharmed

IPOH: A 31-year-old woman died after she was stabbed by a 23-year-old man believed to be her boyfriend at her home in Taman Perpaduan, Tambun here last night.

Perak Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Anuar Othman said K. Krishna was stabbed in the chest several times with a knife.

Anuar said police received a phone call from the woman's neighbour at 8.45pm reporting a commotion at her house.

"When a team of policemen arrived at her home, they found both laying next to each other in a pool of blood. There were several stab wounds on the woman's body as well as the man's.

"The man was still alive and was rushed to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment," he said when met at the scene last night.

Anuar said when the incident occurred, the victim and the man were in the house with the woman's two sons aged six and eight years old. However none of the children were injured.

"Further checks revealed that the woman had lodged several police reports against the man for breaking into her home and bothering her.

"Police had also arrested the man previously and the latest was on March 15 for breaking into the woman's home," he said.

Anuar added that police are in the midst of investigating whether the man tried to kill himself by stabbing his chest or if the woman had stabbed him.

"We will investigate and record statements from the witnesses including the woman's children who saw the incident," he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 for murder which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
