SHAH ALAM: A Myanmar national was found dead with stab wounds at her home in Section 25 here yesterday (Aug 20) and her son has been arrested in connection with the case.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said police received information about the incident from the victim's neighbour at 5.49pm yesterday.
He said the victim's youngest child, who had just returned from school, told the neighbour what happened.
"Investigations found that the incident occurred about 4.30pm yesterday.
"The victim, a Myanmar national, was alone and believed to be cooking in the rented two-storey terrace house during the incident. Her husband was at work.
"Checks revealed the victim struggled with the suspect and was stabbed with a sharp weapon.
"Police found multiple stab wounds on the victim's body," he said today.
Iqbal said police arrested the victim's eldest son, 20, not far from the scene of the incident about 7.30pm the same day.
"During the arrest, police recovered the knife used to stab the victim.
"Investigations revealed that the suspect was dissatisfied with the victim as she frequently scolded him about financial issues.
"The suspect is employed and has no criminal records or health issues."
He said a remand order was issued for the suspect from today until Aug 27 by magistrate Ameera Mastura Khamis at the Shah Alam magistrate's court.
"A post-mortem examination revealed that the cause of death is smothering, with stab wounds to the abdomen.
"We have recorded statements from eight people."
He said the investigation is being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.
