KUALA LUMPUR: Celebrity preacher and philanthropist Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew, better known as Ustaz Ebit Lew, has again been summoned by police to have his statement taken to facilitate an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment.
Federal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said the preacher and his wife had their statements taken at federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman on Sept 30.
"The public has been advised to not issue any statements or spread any materials on any platforms to avoid speculation and provocation (over the case), which could jeopardise the investigation," he said in a brief statement today.
Ebit was first summoned to Bukit Aman on Aug 19 to have his statement recorded over allegation of sexual harassment.
Police also confirmed that a team was deployed to search his residence on the same day, which they had described as a "normal process" as part of their probe.
The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
