PETALING JAYA: Police are urging a Twitter user, who claimed to have been sexually harassed by a policeman in a patrol car, to come forward.
The Twitter handle under 'Lord Pretty @ Qhaishaaantsha' yesterday posted a photograph of a police patrol car with its registration number, alleging that a policeman had harassed her.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said such was a serious accusation and the victim should immediately file an official report.
"Based on the registration plate on the Honda Civic patrol car posted, indeed the vehicle belonged to the district police. Thus, we will launch an investigation into the claim.
"However, we also urge the Twitter account holder to come forward and assist us in the investigation," he said in a statement today.
He said a thorough probe will be conducted to determine the truth behind the matter.
"The police, in PJ especially, will not tolerate or compromise any wrongdoings involving our personnel. If indeed there has been any wrongdoing involving the police, as alleged, severe action will be taken. Rest assured," he said.
Mohamad Fakhrudin encouraged those with knowledge of police misconduct or wrongdoing to lodge a report at the district police headquarters.
