KOTA BARU: Police arrested a 28-year-old football player for allegedly raping a girl at her home in Kampung Kijang on Sunday.
Kelantan acting police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the suspect was detained soon after the 18-year-old victim lodged a report at the Kota Baru police station about 2pm the same day.
"In the report, the victim claimed the incident happened about noon when she was throwing rubbish near her home.
"The suspect suddenly dragged her into the house and raped her. No one was in the house at the time of the incident.
"The suspect was nabbed at his home about 10pm the same day," he told reporters after launching the 'Cinta dan Airmata' programme here today.
The suspect, who is married with two children, was remanded for four days until Thursday to assist police investigation.
Zaki added that the victim also claimed she had been 'sexually abuse' by the suspect, who was a regular customer at her foodstall.
"The victim claimed the suspect had been sending her lewd pictures via WhatsApp since she was 17," he said.
