MACC completes investigation on several people linked to LCS scandal

PUTRAJAYA: Several investigations initiated into the delay of the RM9 billion worth of Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) construction project by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) have been completed.

MACC in a statement today said it had completed investigations on several people who were related to the alleged deviation and mismanagement of the LCS project.

"The investigation paper has been submitted to the Attorney General's Chambers with the MACC's recommendation to charge several people in court.

"We will now wait for further instructions from the AGC," it said.

Yesterday, the cabinet called on the MACC to speed up its probe on the combat ship scandal.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had said those responsible for the scandal should be charged in court once enough evidence had been obtained.

The cabinet, he said, had also agreed to make public reports from the Special Investigative Committee on Procurement, Governance and Finance on the matter.

The committee was led by former Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang.

Earlier, a Public Accounts Committee's findings revealed there were discrepancies and delays in the six combat ship construction since 2017.

Several high profile people were alleged to have played a role in siphoning and abusing their power in the purchase dealing of these ships.
