Najib arrives at Palace of Justice, supporters chant 'Hidup Bossku' [NSTTV]

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Razak arrived at the Palace of Justice here for the hearing of his final bid to overturn his 12 years' jail conviction and RM210 million fine for misappropriating RM42 million of SRC International Sdn Bhd funds.

The hearing is expected to continue before a five-member bench of the Federal Court, led by Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat.

The Pekan member of parliament walked into the courtroom with his daughter, Nooryana Najwa Najib, while waving at rows of photographers waiting for him at the courthouse lobby.

Clad in a dark suit, he arrived with his entourage at about 9.20am with blue police light flares and sirens breaking the usually peaceful morning of the complex at Precinct 3, here.

The rainy weather did nothing to hinder supporters of Datuk Seri Najib Razak who had gathered to show their support for the former prime minister this morning.

The group is believed to have been ferried via 10 buses from all across the peninsula, including from his constituency in Pekan, Pahang.

Clad in blue Barisan Nasional (BN) shirts and red scarves, the group chanted 'Hidup Najib' and 'Hidup Bossku' as they gathered at the back entrance of the court compound as early as 7am.

All eyes are on Najib's counsel Hisyam Teh Poh Teik today, as he had previously insisted that he would not be submitting anything in defence of his client after Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk V Sitambaram wrapped up his submissions last week.

Hisyam maintained his position despite being asked twice by Tengku Maimun about the defence's unusual stance.

The other judges hearing Najib's appeal are Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Tan Sri Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim, and Federal Court Judges Datuk P Nalini, Datuk Mary Lim Thiam Suan and Datuk Muhammad Zabidin Mohd Diah.

Najib is appealing against the 12 year jail sentence and RM210 million fine that was imposed on him by Kuala Lumpur High Court Judge Datuk Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali for misappropriating RM42 million of SRC International money.
