Azam: Muhyiddin expected to be charged tomorrow

PUTRAJAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be charged in court tomorrow.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said Muhyiddin was now having his statement recorded by the commission at its headquarters here.

"He is expected to be charged tomorrow, not today," Azam said when contacted by Berita Harian.

Muhyiddin arrived at the MACC headquarters , here, around 11.15am today to give his statement related to government funds allocated for the Jana Wibawa programme.

Muhyiddin, who is Perikatan Nasional chairman and Pagoh member of parliamanet, had confirmed in a Facebook post yesterday that he had been summoned to the MACC headquarters today.

The Jana Wibawa scheme was introduced by the government under Muhyiddin's administration to speed up project implementation and boost the country's economy during and after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The scheme was also intended to increase the capacity of Bumiputera/Malay contractors in the construction industry to be more competitive and resilient.
