Tight security as supporters trickle in at Shah Alam court complex [NSTTV]

SHAH ALAM: Supporters are starting to gather outside Shah Alam court complex this morning as former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin face fresh charges in relations to the Jana Wibawa programme.

The crowd however was much less than Friday's at the Kuala Lumpur court, where about 300 people gathered to give moral support to the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president.

As of 8.10am, only a handful were spotted, with some carrying the Perikatan Nasional (PN) flags.

Security, however, remained tight with only the media, lawyers and those with court orders allowed to enter the complex.

Traffic police were also at the scene to facilitate the flow of traffic.

Meanwhile, a bus load of PN members could be seen waiting outside the gates of the Shah Alam court standing in solidarity for their party leader.

Bersekutu Shah Alam head Rupaa Sri Yogisvaran said support for Muhyiddin will continue as the former prime minister is expected to go into trial after pleading not guilty to all seven charges against him.

She also mentioned that the public backlash against PN supporters in light of the Jana Wibawa scandal is not a reason for them to move away from the party.

"Kami berani kerana benar (dare to be true). It is not fair and we will not stand down.

"We see all that is happening right now as slander by the government against our party and our party leader done in efforts of confusing the rakyat ahead of the coming six-state elections," said Rupaa to the New Straits Times.

According to Rupaa, PN is a steady party and is growing stronger day-by-day.

"Everybody is in support of him, even non-malays because we are aware of what is happening."

Muhyiddin was slapped with one count of money laundering amounting to RM5 million this morning.

This makes it his seventh criminal charge as he was previously slapped with six counts of money laundering and corruption at Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Friday, where he pleaded not guilty and claimed trial.

The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president, whose actual registered name is Mahiaddin Md Yasin, 76, has become the second former prime minister to be charged in court for corruption in the country's history.
