SELAYANG: Inspector Sheila, who went viral on social media recently , is set to file a preliminary objection to dismiss three charges against her including threatening and tarnishing the reputation of a lance corporal.
Lawyer M. Manoharan, who is representing the woman, whose full name is Sheila Sharon Steven Kumar, 35, stated that the objection is based on the grounds that the charges are unfounded and trivial.
"I intend to raise two charges (before Magistrate Chai Guan Hock) and one charge (before Magistrate Nor Hafizah Rajuni), whether the prosecution wishes to have all cases heard in this court (before Chai).
"I believe the complainant in another case (before Nor Hafizah) will be called as a witness in court (before Chai).
"We have already submitted the police report for the case (before Nor Hafizah), and I have requested another mention date," he stated during the case mention before Chai today.
Meanwhile, Deputy Public Prosecutor Anis Farhah Ahmad Hilmi said some documents have been handed over to Sheila's defense team before Chai scheduled August 22 for the next case mention.
During the proceedings before Nor Hafizah, Deputy Public Prosecutor B.S. Erneetha Kaur informed of the same matter before the magistrate decided on that date for document submission.
Sheila faces three charges of threatening and tarnishing the reputation of a lance corporal and two civilians.
Before Chai, she is accused of threatening a woman with the intention to intimidate the victim under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum punishment of two years' imprisonment, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
She is also accused of insulting the modesty of a man under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
Before Nor Hafizah, Sheila is charged with using improper language towards Lance Corporal Abdul Arif Farhan Abdul Razak, with the intent to defame his honor.
All these offenses are alleged to have occurred at a restaurant on Jalan SG 1/1, Taman Sri Gombak, here, between noon and 1 pm, on June 15.
