GEORGE TOWN: A cosmetics entrepreneur known as Che Ta Pot Pet filed a defamation suit at the High Court here today against entrepreneur and influencer Iddin Syah.
Che Ta, whose real name is Rozita Baharom, 36, also sought RM16 million from Iddin.
Rozita, represented by counsel K. Mahendran, also filed an injunction to stop Iddin from uploading statements as well as to delete postings, including video footage which she alleged was defamatory towards her since last month.
"My client is demanding an open apology from Iddin through his social media, including TikTok and Instagram.
"We are also getting an injunction against the defendant for him to delete any video footage which paints a bad name of my client in any platforms until the end of this case," he told newsmen here today.
Earlier, Rozita, who was represented by Mahendran and P. Vaasu, submitted the application before Judge P. Anand.
The judge questioned why the application was submitted directly to the High Court and felt that it was more appropriate for it to be done at the Sessions Court.
Nevertheless, based on the judge's discretion, he allowed the injunction application to prevent the defendant from uploading any postings or contents about the plaintiff until the end of the case.
The court then set Sept 4 for inter-parte hearing with regards to the demands made.
Prior to this, entertainment portal mStar reported that Iddin Syah claimed he was tricked by a business partner, who is also a singer, namely Rozita of RM150,000.
Iddin claimed the individual concerned also failed to make repayment of the promised sum for supposed service, and had lodged a police report.
