'Toilet Girl' flushes out stinky loos, praises the good ones [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: As the world continues its rapid development, the role of a critic and watchdog has also expanded beyond normal convention.

According to Kosmo!, "Toilet Girl" Marissa Wong Wern, a woman in her 20s from Subang Jaya in Selangor has found fame on social media by giving commentaries on the quality of public toilets nationwide.

She said the idea to start commenting about the condition of public toilets came after she visited one such dirty and unhygienic facility, which made her wonder why nobody ever shared their review about toilets compared with many who loved to promote food.

"That awareness prompted me to create reviews on something more beneficial. I might be the most disgusting content creator in Malaysia, and perhaps in the world," Wong said.

She said the "perfect" toilet did not necessarily need to be beautiful or luxurious, but it would be enough if it was fully functional, clean, with good ventilation, bright lighting and equipped with hygiene products.

Wong regarded the facilities at The Gardens Mall here as the "most perfect" she ever visited because their cleanliness was always maintained.

"Even during busy times or when there are many people, the toilet remains clean," she said.

Thanks to her efforts in highlighting the most unusual place, she was invited to attend the Toilet of the Year Award 2024 in Kuala Lumpur last Oct 30, which was organised by the Housing and Local Government Ministry with its minister, Nga Kor Ming, officiating in the event.
