KUALA LUMPUR: Police have rescued a foreign woman who was kidnapped by a group of individuals after they were believed to be displeased with a project that failed to be completed.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the woman involved was rescued by a team of Bukit Aman CID with assistance from Selangor and Penang police headquarters.
He said the victim was kidnapped somewhere in Selangor and taken to Penang before being rescued by the police.
"The police received a report regarding the kidnapping of a family member of a foreign businessman.
"Investigation found that the foreign national was involved in a business project but it was abandoned halfway causing his family member to be kidnapped," he said at a press conference in Bukit Aman here today.
Shuhaily said that more information regarding the incident would be detailed by Penang police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chinat at a press conference tomorrow.
