KUALA LANGAT: Police here rescued a kidnap victim and solved at least five house burglaries and a car theft when they raided a premises in Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang, early today.
They also arrested five suspects, including two foreigners, aged between 21 and 37 during the raid which was assisted by Criminal Investigation Department policemen from the Selangor police headquarters.
District police chief Superintendent Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd Nor @ Saleh said police received a report about the kidnapping of the victim from his home on Aug 5 about 7am.
"The victims' sister lodged the police report saying that one of her two brothers was kidnapped by a group of men who came in a car, armed with sticks.
"The complainant, a 29-year-old woman, said the men initially abducted her two younger brothers from in front of their house, but released one not long after. She tried calling her brother's mobile phone repeatedly but it was not reachable.
"Worried over his safety, she reported the incident on the same day about 8.45am," he said in a statement.
Ridhwan said preliminary checks on all the suspects showed two out of the three locals, aged 22 and 31, had previous criminal records, while the other, a 21-year-old, and the two foreigners aged 35 and 37, did not have any criminal records.
He said police recovered a car that was reported stolen in Klang and some house break-in tools, and several items which were reported stolen by home owners.
"With the arrests, we believe we have safely rescued a kidnap victim and solved at least five break-in cases in the district. All five suspects will be brought to the Telok Datok magistrate's court tomorrow for a remand application," he said.
Ridhwan said the case was being investigated under Section 365 of the Penal Code for kidnapping, Section 457 for house break-in, and under Section 379A for vehicle theft.
