KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is in the process of finalising several documents to complete a Red Notice application to Interpol over two individuals, including the son-in-law of former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said among the documents that were being finalised was the draft on the charges of the relevant case.
A Red Notice is similar to an arrest warrant which alerts Interpol member agencies to look out for, detain and send the person to the country which had applied for the notice.
"All of these documents will be handed over to the police on Monday (Oct 2).
"There are specific documents that we need to provide, however, this will be done promptly and will not take much time.
"I anticipate that all of this will be handed in next week, earliest on Monday," he said after a shooting event with the media in conjunction with MACC's 56th anniversary.
He added that the request to Interpol on the Red Notice could not be directly applied by the MACC.
"Instead, it needs to be done by the police as the request must be applied based on Interpol's requirements."
Yesterday, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the police were awaiting technical information from the MACC to complete the Red Notice application from Interpol over two individuals.
The individuals were Muhyiddin's son-in-law, Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan, 48 and lawyer Mansor Saat, 69.
He reportedly said several technical issues were also being updated by the graft busters.
On Aug 9, Azam said the graft buster would seek Interpol's help in tracking down two individuals suspected of fleeing the country.
The individuals, Muhammad Adlan and Mansor were being investigated by the MACC in relation to misappropriation in the registration, recruitment and biometric storage of data of foreign workers in a ministry.
