PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal has fixed Oct 20 for decision on a defamation suit by former Sungai Siput parliamentary research officer Indrani Ramasamy against her former boss Kesavan Subramaniam.
Counsel Rueben Mathiavaranam, who appeared for the appellant (Indrani) confirmed this when contacted today.
He said both parties had presented their submissions before a three-member panel appellate court comprising Datuk Seri Kamaludin Md Said, Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah, and Datuk Hashim Hamzah yesterday.
"The deputy registrar informed us that the court has scheduled the date during a case management today," he said.
Counsel Azhar Arman Ali appeared for Kesavan.
It was reported that Indrani, who was appointed as the Sungai Siput parliamentary research officer, had previously lodged a police report claiming Kesavan had been sexually harassing her since December 2018.
She subsequently filed the lawsuit on July 16, 2019, in the Kuala Lumpur High Court following Kesavan's public statement on May 18 the same year.
In the statement, Kesavan claimed Indrani was the one who pursued him, wanted to wreck his marriage and that her accusation had caused him mental trauma.
Kesavan, who is also the PKR Sungai Siput branch chief had lodged a police report against Indrani on May 18. He claimed she had been flooding him with phone calls.
Among the accusations made by Indrani in her first report was that Kesavan had shown her some content of the Kamasutra book and pornographic pictures.
The High Court, however, dismissed Indrani's suit on Judge 30 last year.
