KUALA LUMPUR: Toh Puan Naimah Khalid, the wife of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, will be charged in the Sessions Court here tomorrow.
A source when contacted, confirmed the matter.
She will be charged under Section 36(2) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act for failure to declare her assets.
Naimah and her two sons, Amir and Amin, on Jan 10, were summoned to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to have their statements recorded.
The commission said this was done to ascertain values of some of the high-value assets domestic and abroad held under the companies belonging to them in relation to the probe on Daim.
The commission said a notice was served to Daim under Section 36(1)(a) of the MACC Act 2009, on 7 June 2023 while his family members were served notices under Section 36(1)(b) of the MACC Act 2009.
The family's lawyers had described the entire questioning as 'one giant fishing expedition', aimed at gathering information to charge Daim.
On Dec 23, MACC confirmed that it is investigating Daim over allegations of corruption and money laundering. This was linked to information gleaned from the Pandora Papers leak, which had linked a number of high-profile Malaysians to offshore tax havens.
The confirmation came about after the commission on Dec 18 seized the 58-storey Ilham Tower, a commercial property in the Kuala Lumpur city centre reportedly owned by Daim's family.
On Dec 28, Daim in a statement, labelled MACC's investigation against him and his family a "political witch hunt."
He said neither he nor his family had been involved in any corruption or wrongdoing, adding that his efforts to establish what offences he allegedly committed to warrant the probe had been rebuffed by the MACC.
Daim also accused Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of interfering in the probe by making unsubstantiated insinuations against him.
