Habib Yusri Yusof, 45, was sentenced to seven years in prison and six strokes of the cane after confessing to sexually assaulting two of his students in November and earlier this year.
Habib looked calm when Abu Bakar made the decision against him.
According to the first charge, he is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old student, at 12pm, Jan 4.
The second charge is that he is accused of physically sexually assaulting a 16-year-old Rohingya student at 7.30am in November last year, with both incidents occurring at the madrasah where the accused teaches.
Both offences falls under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offenses against Children Act 2017, and can be punished in accordance with Section 14 and read together with Section 16 of the same act.
The punishment for Section 14 is imprisonment for up to 20 years and whipping while the additional punishment for Section 16 is imprisonment for up to five years and whipping.
The prosecution was carried out by Deputy Public Prosecutor Danial Munir while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
According to the facts of the case, an assistant to the headmaster of the madrasah filed a police report after being informed that two of his students was sexually assaulted by the accused.
The incident took place in the madrasah building after the accused called the victim into his room for help to organise some items.
The victim then took the opportunity to commit heinous acts against the 14-year-old victim.
Prior to that that, the victim also did the same thing against the 16-year-old victim by allegedly wanting to take his measurements for a shirt.
