JOHOR BARU: Johor police have confirmed a bomb threat call at Majlis Bandaraya Johor Baru (MBJB) Tower at Bukit Senyum, here, today.
Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the matter is still under investigation.
"Yes, there is (a bomb threat), it's under investigation," he said when contacted today.
Meanwhile, an MBJB spokesperson said the situation is under control, and the police have conducted inspections.
"The police conducted inspections this morning; we will issue a statement," the spokesperson said when contacted.
The MBJB Tower houses more than 1,000 employees and replaces the old complex that was over 50 years old.
The design of the MBJB staff placement is comparable to skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa, as it is inspired by the same architectural firm as the iconic United Arab Emirates (UAE) landmark.
On Oct 14 last year, visitors to the Sogo Midvalley Southkey supermarket here also faced a tense situation when it was believed to have received a bomb threat.
During the incident, an estimated 9,000 visitors and workers were at the location with 4,000 vehicles. 892 people were occupying 463 rooms in the hotel.
