Korean man found dead in bathroom

KOTA KINABALU: A Korean man was found dead in the bathroom of a resort on Pulau Gayahere this morning.

The 53-year-old victim was found unconscious in the shower of the bathroom at around 7am.

It is understood that the victim and his family checked into the resort yesterday.

Kota Kinabalu District acting police chief, Superintendent Kalsom Idris, said the incident came to the attention of a resort worker who heard screams from the victim's family members upon them seeing the victim unconscious.

"Initial investigations revealed that the deceased booked two rooms, one for his children, and one for himself and his wife," he said in a media statement today.

The wife decided to sleep in their children's room while the deceased slept alone in their room,

Kalsom said that at 7am, the wife asked their eldest child to wake him up for breakfast.

However, he said, their child was shocked to see their father motionless in the bathroom.

"The victim's body has been sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE1) for post-mortem to determine the cause of death," he said.

Meanwhile, he said, police are appealing to the public for information regarding the incident to facilitate further investigations.
