No leads from IP address detected near Zayn Rayyan's body

SUBANG JAYA: The internet protocol (IP) address detected at the location of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin's body did not lead to the identification of a suspect.

The Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the IP address was "inconclusive" towards any particular individual.

"We've looked at all angles and used all available assets, including seeking help from Interpol," he said in a press conference at the Subang District Police headquarters here, today.

An IP address is a numerical label assigned to a device (such as a smartphone or laptop) that is connected to a network.

He said the fingerprints and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) sample sent to Interpol also came back with zero leads.

Hussein also denied claims that the police had delayed in investigating the case.

He said the police acted as soon as the first report on the 6-year-old's disappearance was lodged, as seen in media reports throughout the investigation process.

"There has been extensive media coverage of the police investigation from day one.

"So on allegations that we acted slowly, I believe the public can see that this is incorrect.

"We've done the best and it is an open case that we are still investigating," he added.

The autistic child was reported missing on Dec 5 last year in Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya, and was found dead the next day near a creek, about 200m from the Idaman Apartments, where he lived.

An autopsy found injuries to the neck and body due to self-defence and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
