GEORGE TOWN: Penang police are investigating three personnel from the Pulau Tikus police station here who were caught for alleged wrongdoing last Friday.
Contacted by the New Straits Times today, state police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad merely said: "Masih dalam siasatan (It is still under investigation)."
According to a report shared in the Edisi Siasat telegram group, a team from the Bukit Aman Department of Integrity and Standards Compliance (JIPS) had conducted checks at the task force room of the Pulau Tikus police station.
During checks on a corporal, they found a bundle of RM500 notes inside a sling bag he was carrying.
The team then proceeded to check in the compound of the station and found another corporal trying to speed off on his motorcycle.
They stopped the corporal for checks but he failed to produce his identity document and licence.
Checks revealed RM1,903 inside a brown sling bag he had with him.
"Both the corporals failed to explain the source of the money, which raised suspicion," according to the report.
The team then conducted random urine checks on a lance corporal, which came back positive for methamphetamine.
A disciplinary investigation paper has been opened against all three personnel.
