SHAH ALAM: Selangor police have busted two drug syndicates, seizing drugs with a total value of RM 4.92 million that could supply more than 150,000 users in a day.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said they arrested five men from south Klang and Subang Jaya.
The drugs seized included 25.2kg of methamphetamine, 16.8kg of ecstasy, 7.3kg of Erimin 5 pills, 6.7kg of ketamine and 1.13kg of heroin base.
They were meant to be distributed in the Klang Valley.
Hussein said all suspects have been remanded for seven days under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Both cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
For the first case, the Selangor Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) detained a man in south Klang on June 5 and seized drugs kept in a Honda HRV and a house.
Hussein said: "The suspect, a 30-year-old unemployed man, was found to have two prior criminal records. He tested negative for drugs.
"The value of the seized drugs in this case is RM 4.12 million," he said here today.
Hussein said the syndicate had been active for six months.
He said actions taken under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988 included the seizure of a Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 valued at RM 130,000 and a gold ring worth RM 1,428.
For the Second case, Hussein said the Selangor NCID arrested a man in a parking lot of a shopping mall in Subang Jaya on June 6.
He said they seized 20 packages of drugs, suspected to be methamphetamine with an estimated weight of 20.8kg, in a white canvas bag.
The value of the drugs seized in this case is RM 666,944.
"Following this arrest, at 2.10pm, police arrested three more men in Rawang, believed to be involved in the same syndicate.
"The four suspects are aged between 30 and 50.
"Checks revealed that the first suspect has nine prior records, the second suspect has one record of arrest in Thailand, the third suspect has seven prior records, and the fourth suspect has five drug-related records."
He added that three suspects tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, while one tested negative.
Hussein said the syndicate had been active for three to four months.
"Police also seized a Toyota CHR valued at RM 150,000 and RM 1,777 in cash."
Hussein said the 25.2kg of methamphetamine seized could supply 50,404 users in a day.
Meanwhile, the 16.8kg of ecstasy could supply 56,144 users.
"The 7.3kg of Erimin 5 pills can supply 24,330 users in a day, and 6.7kg of ketamine can supply 13,552 users.
"The 1.13kg of heroin base can produce 12.3kg of heroin, which can supply 24,758 users in a day."
