Bukit Aman to take over probe into circulation of Zayn Rayyan's case photos

SHAH ALAM: Bukit Aman's Elite Crime Investigation Unit will take over the probe into the circulation of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin's case file photos.

State police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said they were also investigating the possibility of insider involvement in the circulation of the images.

"The case has been classified under Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act," he told reporters today.

It was reported that police had launched an investigation into the circulation of Zayn Rayyan's case file photos.

This came after a Telegram channel posted photos purportedly depicting injuries suffered by Zayn Rayyan, 6, who was murdered last December.

Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Ja'afar, in a statement, said they received a report on the circulation of the photos on June 30.

He said police opened an investigation over the wrongful communication of official secrets, disclosing information obtained during duty under any written law and misuse of network facilities.

These offences fall under Section 8 of the Official Secrets Act, Section 203A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
