10 foreigners held after unpaid rental sparks row

KUALA LUMPUR: Police detained 10 foreign nationals following a quarrel over unpaid rental that went viral on social media.

Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said the incident stemmed from overdue rental payments for a shared accommodation.

"The row was due to unpaid rent for a house. The victim, a 46-year-old local man, was threatened and assaulted by a 37-year-old foreign national," he said.

"The victim sustained injuries to his chest and received treatment at Selayang Hospital," he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 323/506 of the Penal Code.

Remand applications for the suspects were submitted to the Selayang court today.
