Myanmar worker found dead in Kulim durian orchard, believed to be murdered

KULIM: A 36-year-old Myanmar national was found dead in a durian orchard near the Kulim-Junjong trunk road on Monday, believed to have been murdered.

Kulim district police chief Superintendent Mohd Azizul Mohd Khairi said the victim, identified as a worker at the orchard, was discovered with stab wounds on his back.

He said investigations found that the victim had been living with two other colleagues, also Myanmar nationals, in a hut on a hill in the orchard.

"On Monday at 9am, police received information regarding the death of the Myanmar man. The victim was found lying beside the hut on the hillside with three stab wounds from a sharp object on his back.

"The attack is believed to have occurred on Sunday night, suspected to have been carried out by the two colleagues who lived with him and have since gone missing," he said in a statement today.

He said police are still conducting intelligence and investigations to track down the suspects involved.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

"The police request the cooperation of the public to provide information to assist in this investigation," he added.
