BALIK PULAU: Police discovered a human skeleton in a durian orchard in Pulau Betong here last Friday.
The skeleton was found at 12.35pm after police received an emergency call reporting the discovery of human bones in the area.
Southwest District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam said that investigations at the scene revealed several bones and a human skeleton buried under a pile of soil on a hillside of the durian orchard.
In addition to the skeleton, police also found other items, including fragments of a phone, a cup, wire rolls, an iron pot, and pieces of a fan, he said when contacted today.
He added that the remains were taken to Penang Hospital (HPP) for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
"Police are awaiting the autopsy results and forensic report for further investigation," he said.
