MACHANG: Police have arrested two men and seized 608kg of ketum leaves, 106 litres of ketum juice and pills in a raid here yesterday.
Machang police chief Superintendent Ahmad Shafiki Hussin said a four-wheel-drive was also seized in the raid in Kampung Pek here.
He added the duo were in the car parked near bushes when the raid was carried out about noon.
"A police party was sent to the scene after receiving information on illegal activities about 11.30am.
"When they arrived at the scene, they saw two men inside a 4WD and conducted checks on them.
"Police found three pills in the car. They also found several tools which were used to process ketum juice near the bushes.
"They also discovered 608kg of ketum leaves and 106 litres of ketum juice."
Shafiki said the ketum leaves and juice, as well as the pills, worth about RM13,265.
"Initial investigation showed that the two have been using the bushes as their place to process the juice before distributing them to buyers.
"Our checks also revealed that both suspects tested positive for drugs, with one of them having previous crime records," he added.
He said the duo would be remanded soon.
