5 arrested over assault of man who tried to reclaim RM300 loan

JOHOR BARU: Five men have been arrested over the assault of a former hotel employee who tried to reclaim a RM300 loan.

The assault led to the victim, Mohd Ahzan Husni, 35, suffering a fractured skull.

Johor Baru Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the five arrested are aged 25 to 38.

All five men tested positive for drugs.

"Investigations are ongoing," he said when contacted today.

The case is being probed under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act for the use of dangerous drugs.

Previously, Ahzan claimed he was beaten by a group of men after asking his friend to repay a loan.

The incident purportedly happened on the evening of July 15.

He claimed that after he asked his friend to repay a loan, the friend became angry and called six other men to attack him.

Ahzan's mother, Norhayati A Razak, 53, said her son loaned his friend RM300 out of sympathy as he needed to buy milk for his child.
