KANGAR: Police have arrested a padi farmer, 32, after raiding a ketum juice joint in Kampung Kersek, Simpang Empat, here yesterday.
Kangar police chief Assistant Commissioner Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop said the 7pm raid was carried out by the Kuala Kedah Marine Police's Intelligence Unit.
"The team seized 190 plastic packs and 10 bottles containing ketum, as well as a 14-litre container filled with ketum and cookware to prepare the drink," he said in a statement today.
He added that based on initial investigations, the suspect had been selling ketum juice for RM3 per packet in Simpang Empat here since 2019.
The total seizure was estimated at RM645 and could cater for 320 ketum addicts.
