JOHOR BARU: The police investigation into the abduction of a six-year-old girl from Iskandar Puteri last month, is now focused on the suspect's possible paedophiliac tendencies after sexual paraphernalia were found at his house in Kulai.
Johor police chief Commissioner M. Kumar said with the discovery of sexual paraphernalia, investigations has shifted to the 31-year-old suspect to establish the motive of the abduction.
"We have found new evidence in this case, including various sexual paraphernalia.
"Our investigation is now directed towards this discovery.
"We hope to identify the true motive behind this abduction soon," Kumar told a press conference at the state police contingent headquarters, here, today.
The 31-year-old suspect, previously arrested under Section 364 of the Penal Code for kidnapping, was earlier released on police bail.
He was rearrested under Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and Section 292 of the Penal Code, after sex toys, adult pornography, and child sexual abuse materials were found at his home.
Kumar also refuted claims that the kidnapping report had been withdrawn.
He said investigations under Section 365 of the Penal Code for abduction is ongoing, as there were no ransom demands.
He also confirmed the man was currently a lone suspect in the possible child pornography investigation.
When asked if the child was required to undergo further medical examination given the new direction of investigations, Kumar said there were no need for it currently, as the victim was thoroughly examined and declared healthy by medical experts, after she was rescued from the clutches of the suspect in a budget hotel in Selangor.
