Rayer files report against Muhyiddin over comments on former king

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP member of parliament R.S.N Rayer today (Sunday) lodged a report against Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for allegedly questioning the authority of the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

According to Free Malaysia Today, Rayer, who is Jelutong MP, lodged the report at the Jalan Patani police station here.

He also called for Muhyiddin to be investigated under the Sedition Act, similar to Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

Yesterday, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail urged the authorities to take action against Muhyiddin for touching on 3R (race, religion and royalty) issues during the Nenggiri by-election.

Wan Rosdy, who is Pahang menteri besar, said he was upset by Muhyiddin's speech which seemed impolite towards the authority of Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah when serving as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

It is believed that Wan Rosdy was referring to Muhyiddin's campaign speech, where he claimed that he had the backing of 115 MPs after the 2022 general election, and that the king should have called him to be sworn in as the 10th prime minister.

New Straits Times has reached out to Muhyiddin's aide for comment.
